No S

I don't think I knew before this year that the recent weekend's time changing event is called Daylight Saving Time. No s. Not like "Daylight Savings and Loan." Hm. I've been saying it wrong all these years.

Also, I am still not clear...was the time change this weekend to correct the earlier (fall) clock re-set? Or is the spring change the one that triggers it all? So confused. And frankly, I believe I could do without it very well.

Five Minute Fridays

One of the blogs that I read offers a Friday activity called "Five Minutes for..." This is a writing exercise, and each Friday a different one-word subject is given. The idea is to write for 5 minutes without editing. This week's topic was "delight", which sounded...delightful, and so I set my cell phone timer and wrote.
=======================

I looked up from my computer and out my window, where I was stunned by the billions of snowflakes swirling, falling, rising, amongst the buildings and the trees on the hill that leads down to Lake Mendota. The sky was just shadowed enough that when I gazed up, I could see the countless clusters circling and dropping. Just in the rectangle of sky that is visible from my window, there must have been billions and billions of these airy white gems. Precious and beautiful, continually moving…all this wondrous beauty is there for free, and in abundance. How can we not believe that we are loved?

======================

Also, I'm supposed to link back to the other blog and comment, and so forth, but I'm blatantly not going to do that. I think Other blogs are more substantive and this one's mainly just my little diary.

Spelling counts

Hey, lawyer who advertises on TV and hopes I'll call your large print phone number because I've suffered the ill effects you describe which are related to a medical device:

chord = A group of (typically three or more) notes sounded together, as a basis of harmony.
cord = Any part resembling a string or rope

And, hey, person programming the news crawl on channel 3:

Tuscan = of, pertaining to, or characteristic of Tuscany, its people, or their dialect.
Tucson = city in south Arizona

Just so you know...

Well, hello, 2012!

So apparently this will be a blog I use once a year. You know, lest I wear it out :)

Actually, that's not the reason. Failure to use this blog is directly related to my rise in Facebook usage. In fact, it could be charted. Plot the number of entries on the X axis and the date on the Y axis. As my FB use increased, my blog use declined. There. Scientifically proven!

But I'm rethinking that a bit. FB is limiting in terms of space. It's OK for brief thoughts, funny ideas, and updates, but I wouldn't really write anything of length or much substance there. And I do have some musings that would be longer, and frankly not really appropriate for the way I prefer to use FB.

Bottom line - I've gotten out the jumper cables...I'm firing up the motor....IT'S ALIVE!!!

Welcome, 2012.
